High Level Facts on Asian Lady Beetles:
  • They enter your home in the Fall of the Year to overwinter
  • On warm winter days or as Spring arrives they become active and are looking to exit your home
  • When the Lady Beetles are smashed they release an odor and can stain.  Physical removal with a vacuum is the preferred method
  • The best time for preventative services is to have your home serviced year round on the exterior especially leading up to Fall when the pressure intensifies.  Our InsectaShield service provides this protection and will reduce the Asian Lady Beetle pressure you will deal with at home

A key pest control tip for outside pets is to be sure the food you put out for your pets is no more than they can consume in a single feeding. Left over pet food or bulk feeders will attract mice and wildlife to your home.  Along with not having extra pet food on your exterior, limiting harborage areas around the exterior will make your home less attractive to pests.  Examples of harborage areas include leaves against your homes foundation and wood piles near your home.

Fall Pest Tips
Bug Zero was featured in the below KFVS12 story regarding tips for protecting your home from fall pests.  In order to stay a step ahead of pests it is important to have a service completed prior to there being an issue.  As the weather cools pressure will increase, now is the perfect time to take preventive measures to protect your home.

We have doubled our bed bug control fleet in our Springfield service area and added a second bed bug heat unit to our Cape Girardeau office.

Already our area’s only locally owned bed bug heat source, we added the additional Temp Air heat units to keep up with the steadily increasing demand for bed bug control.  Heating a structure to 122 degrees Fahrenheit kills all stages of a bed bug’s development and allows customers to return to a bed bug free home in a single day.

Bug Zero was featured in a story regarding questions about the early Spring warm weather in our service areas.

Information shared  by Ivan to the KY3 story...

"The one thing that really jumps out at me this year is the amount of house fly pressure we're already seeing. A lot of houseflies and that would not be expected until later on in the summer," says Ivan Eftink, owner of Bug Zero, a Springfield extermination company.

"Most years you expect to see wasps and other stinging insects picking up later in the summer. Over the last few years we've seen a little bit of a trend where we start getting wasp activity and some bee activity earlier and this year is following that trend so we've added wasp prevention to our maintenance programs to try to target them a little bit earlier in the year," Eftink says.
